Go karts are very different today from what they were 30 years ago or more. Back then, they were makeshift in nature and very crudely designed. In fact, back then you could actually send away for the kit that would show you step-by-step how to build a gas or electric go kart in the privacy of your very own home. But early go-karts also had its setbacks, like gasoline powered models with its noxious emissions, not to mention other dangerous setbacks, such as catching on fire and risk being burned or puttering out too soon.

Today Electric go karts are custom designed to resembled miniature versions of popular automobiles. There are models that are designed as little cars with a steering wheels, brakes, exterior, interior, headlights and brake lights just like a real automobile, just smaller.

There are even electric go carts for kids that are designed to look like real racing cars like the ones used on the Indianapolis 500, equipped with helmet and all just on a much smaller slower scale. The electric go kart is the wave of the future and present with the go green mantra and environmentally aware world we live in now.

Because of today’s computer technology, electric powered go karts have become almost space-age in style and performance. Today’s karts tend to be more sleek and streamlined than their bulky, clumsy predecessors of 30 some years ago. And most importantly, because more people are concerned about the ecology, today’s kids electric go karts are environmentally friendly and far more advanced.

Fast electric go karts can be a fun hobby if you’re careful and extremely cautious. Generally, it’s safer to operate one in areas where it will not interfere will automobile traffic; keep in mind a go-kart is not an actual standard-sized vehicle, it’s only a replica of such, its drivers does not necessarily feel obliged to the rules of the road. The rules that are actually designed for legitimate motorists. Driving the smaller slower mini electric go karts on the streets can actually be dangerous, since the motorist may not be able to see the smaller replica or see it in time.

That’s why it’s much safer to drive in a public place such as a large park or an unoccupied school racetrack that is generally used for track and field if that’s allowed. You can even find indoor electric go karts and tracks to utilize them in a much safer environment. These are generally for those who are at least 10 years old and up.

The used electric go karts tend to be less expensive as their larger, standard-sized versions, but they are not necessarily cheap either. They can cost anywhere from $200 to over $500 or more, depending on their brand and accessories that may come with it. You have to decide one that is designed to fit your budget. However cheap electric go karts would definitely be your best bet especially when you are just starting out in the hobby.

Electric go karts racing can be fun, but the question is, is it for you and your children? Is it safe, and more importantly, can you afford the price and the time to the hobby?
Of course, the choice is yours.

Go karting is on the rise. More and more people are finding out about the fun of go karts everyday. If you are looking to find out more about the wonders of go karting then you have your work cut out for you, because there is a lot to learn about this great sport, and the best thing about go karts is that they can be enjoyed by the whole family.

Most of the time you will come across go carting at fun fairs and maybe now and again in the front parking lot of your local shopping mall. Most of the time it looks like fun, but you do not want to try it because you may feel that it is a thing that only kids do – well think again, because people from all ages are into go carts these days, which means that you could be too. They are not only gas powered but also an electric go cart for your pleasure if you prefer.

If you are looking for a way to spend your next family vacation you may want to consider checking out the various go kart tracks. Now, if you think that you have to go to a place where they offer go karting, think again, because you can take a go kart with you wherever you go. They are not that big depending on your age level and can be put in the back of a truck or trailer with ease.

That is right, if you want to do a little go kart racing when you take your family on a vacation in the woods, be sure to not forget your go karts. The great thing about go carts these days, is that everyone can own one, or even two or three of their own. There are literally thousands of go karts for sale online and plenty of places to get your hands on one at a very good rate. This way, when you go on holiday, you can take your racing go karts with you. All you will need to do when you get to your destination is build a race course, or a race track. If you know a little about them then you should know that you do not need to go kart on a tarred surface. Off road Go karts can run on almost any surface.

This is why the woods are such a great place for you to have go kart races. If you want, you can even make a whole event from it. Invite more of your family to join you, hire a few more go karts and have a weekend go kart race away from the rest of civilization. Have fun with the family, have a barbecue and see whole the ultimate go kart champion is in your family.

Go karting is one of the most played games in the US today. The best part of the game is that you can even build your own go karts. All you need to do is find out about the go kart kits. Everything you need to build your new go kart is in the go kart kit.

When you go to buy a go kart there are a couple things that you should know beforehand, especially if you have never gone through this process before. There are also some things to keep an eye out for just pertaining to the sales process, the price, and that sort of thing. But first we should tell the history of go karts very briefly.

A lot of people don’t know that there is an actual professional go kart racing circuit. It is overlooked by the Federation Internationale be l’Automobile (FIA) which also oversees and regulates the highly competitive (and prestigious) Formula One racing. (I’m sure you have heard of that before.) So go carts are not just for kids. Even at the amateur level there are many serious adults who play this sport and are very meticulous about all the details surrounding their rides.

A go kart is a small, suspensionless motorized vehicle. Usually they are used in some type of a racing environment, whether in preparation or in actual competitions. In fact, at the low end, some of them do not even have motors. This is the kind that you might see used in a “soapbox derby” where the vehicles are of a fairly primitive construction and are basically just let go of at the top of a hill and then the kids can only use a steering wheel and brakes to alter the path and speed as the hill accelerates them to the finish line.

Later on in life, many people still want to participate in the sport of go cart racing. For them, they will get into it at a higher end than the plain soap derbiers. They will in fact buy higher class motorized vehicles and will often put a lot of their own workmanship and tweaking into the designs to get them exactly the way they want them for the races in which they intend to compete.

In terms of price, you will see a very wide range with this product. At the low end, you can purchase not so great go carts for as little as only $300. They may be good for a child or someone small or just starting out. It is good to practice on other people’s if possible before sinking too much money into the hobby. Although it sure is enjoyed by an awful lot of people.

Then at the higher end, prices can range all the way up to as much as $10,000 believe it or not. I know that sounds like a lot but it really isn’t when you consider that this is the price for basically professional level go karts. These are guys who make all or part of their living doing this, so their sponsors are often picking up the tab. And of course, much great workmanship and expensive motors, etc. has gone into the construction of them. Go kart parts are not cheap but you can find great deals if you want to get into this hobby. So for starters, I would just suggest to purchase your first go cart at the lower end of the pricing range unless you are very sure of what you want.

Building a go cart sounds easy but in practice there are hundreds of things, which can go wrong and make you give up in frustration. You need to ask the basic question “How to build a go cart” because, go cart designing is essentially like automobile design, an engineering skill, and it helps to have a good layout prepared, before you get down to the nitty-gritty of it. Here’s a checklist on how to build go carts, to get you started.

DESIGN- Keep a design fixed in your mind or translate it to paper. Decide all the possible variables, such as the number of people riding it, the terrain it will be driven on, engine size, clutch type, materials, drive system and suspension, if any before hand. All calculations of engine torque, weight distribution will be done based on these variables, so choose carefully.

ANALYSIS OF DESIGN- Once you design the go carts initial setup it is necessary to make certain calculations about the vehicle layout and chain size, to make sure your go cart moves. Analysis is the most crucial step, during the entire process and mistakes here can be costly. A few essential parameters to be calculated, here are:

    * Center of gravity – this determines the steering of the kart, as a good balanced design has 50% weight distributed on all wheels (the weight includes the driver’s weight as well)
* Engine Drive Line- calculate the engine size to weight ratios, including the chain size and tension, and determine the type of clutch you are going to use
* Strength of Frame- analyze the chassis and decide which material suits it best foe maximum flexibility and stress handling, with out being too heavy
* Component selection- Choose the type of chain, bearings and clutch which would ensure optimum performance, relative to size

GETTING GO CART PARTS / MATERIALS- If you’ve mapped out the complete car on your garage floor or on your computer, you need to pick up the materials that make up the kart which are essentially called go kart parts. Get all the materials together, by size beforehand to save a lot of time. Some parts, such as the engine can be taken of your lawnmower; otherwise there are good go carting stores, which ship materials at affordable rates. Go cart parts are all over the internet and at very comparable and affordable rates.

WELDING THE GO CART FRAME- Get all the pieces of the right sizes and shapes, if you want to learn how to build a go cart frame. Typically, you should, tack up the main frame and weld it, then the rear axle, followed by the engine, drive line and braking system. Then mount the seats; making sure you can remove them out easily later. Layouts the bottom skins and finally attach, the throttle and brake pedal systems.

TEST DRIVE THE GO CART- The test drive will help point out any errors you made during your go cart design, which are bound to be there, because you just don’t know how to build a go kart right, the first time. The brakes may not be adjusted, or worst case, not working, the clutch may smoke, the chain may be loose or the steering may be misaligned. All of these problems require minor readjustments. You should congratulate yourself if it moves.

GO CART PAINTING- Painting is a long drawn out procedure and its done best with a power sprayer. If coating the primer, taping and papering is not your cup of tea, then your local automotive shop will be happy to do it for you for a few bucks.

Building a go cart is a certain joy that comes from achieving something you thought was previously impossible. If you still find yourself asking, “How make a go cart?”, then look online for some good reference guides, which will provide you with detailed lists of tools to use and the calculations required. There are manuals for every kind of cart from metal to even how to build a wooden go cart.

Go kart racing is an extraordinary and fun experience for those who choose to take on this type of hobby. If you are thinking about getting involved in racing go karts there are some things you should consider. You will probably want to design and build your own go kart to race. The first thing you will need to know is where you can go to get affordable racing go kart parts to use. Taking on this kind of hobby can prove to be very expensive but don’t give up just before you start just because you are afraid of the expense. You can find cheap go kart parts if you know where to start looking.

In order to be able to start looking for your go karts parts first you will need to decide what type of go cart you want to race. There are go karts that run on gas or battery power. There are go karts that are designed to be slower for the beginning user and for the driver who is more advanced there are go karts that can exceed speed of about one hundred sixty miles per hour. Before you build your go kart you should know what go kart parts you need to look for.

The body of the go kart is the chassis, you will want to make sure this part is flexible enough to be work as suspension while still being stiff enough to not break easily on a turn. The go kart part that makes it run is the engine. There are many types of engines to choose from. You choice of which engine to use will depend on how much horse power and whether you need a horizontal or vertical mount. Manco go kart parts have a great reputation for reliability and quality. The standard mount used is the horizontal mount because a vertical mount must be customized if that is what you choose to use.

Next is the transmission, this part is vital to your go kart because it allows the kart to run at various speeds and be able to change gears. There are all types of tires that can be used for go kart parts. The tires you use will depend on the type and condition of the track you will be riding it on. There are tires designed to run in either dry or wet weather conditions. Last but not least are the external controls that are required to help prevent you from having an accident. A good example of this type of control would be a remote speed limiter.

For the most part go karts are used just for fun and an entertaining way to spend weekends in the back yard but there are also go karts designed and built specifically for racing. No matter your preference this is a fun and exciting way to spend your free time with friends and family who share your love for go karting. When you are ready to build your own go kart you won’t have to go far to find the go kart parts you need.

Some name brands such as Yerf dog go kart parts are available online at several retailers. Yerf Dog itself went out of business but you can still get a hold of their fantastic utility vehicles, ATV and go karts. Carter go kart parts are also another name brand with an excellent reputation for quality. Carter is probably the most popular name in go carting. Started in Alabama they are the first manufacturers of go carts and thus their products are excellent.

There is a lot of fun to be had with racing go karts, and it is no question why so many moms and dads are finding themselves at the tracks more and more. Sometimes though, it isn’t just because of their kids wanting to get into the sport, no, the parents end up enjoying it just as much, and help with their children to remain competitive. Not only do they enjoy kart racing but also end up wanting to learn about building and working on the racing go kart.

This is serious quality family time that doesn’t cost you much money for the initial investment and by getting into the sport, you are going to be creating memories that will last with your children forever. I guarantee you that they will be talking to you about these memories when you are both a lot older, possibly even while your grandchildren are getting into the sport, it is that powerful.

Go kart racing has grown a lot as a sport over the last few years, and is quickly becoming recognized, causing more and more organizations to setup point based tournaments and kart racing schedules. This is great to teach your kids the ins and outs of the go carts racing system, but as well as help them learn self sufficiency, organization, keeping up with deadlines, and a lot more useful skills that will greatly benefit them throughout their lives.

With the rate that the sport has began growing you are probably going to be able to find a go kart racing track near you, usually within an hour or less of a drive. The total cost to get back and forth to the go kart track as well as the cost of racing go kart parts is easily recovered by eating at the house a few more nights each week. If you have to, and have the ability, maybe consider adding an hour or two of overtime each week at the job for your children’s sake. This will easily allow you the ability to cover the costs incurred from racing go karts and spending a lot of quality time with your children.

It’s not usually that difficult finding racing go karts for sale, just when you begin to start making calls, think about the questions you want to ask up front, and maybe even put them on paper to ensure that you don’t forget to cover any aspects. Some things that you are going to want to know are the condition of the engine, how many hours it has been raced with, the structure of the frame, body work, the condition of the tires, axles, chain, sprocket, and if there are any accessories included.

Make sure that the owner doesn’t seem to be hiding any thing from you, and you can easily find a used racing go kart for you and your family to begin enjoying. Just remember that go kart racing are illegal on the street so if you intend to test one, keep a super quiet muffler on the exhaust, and stay near your home.

If you have an interest in go karting or racing then you will want to make sure that you have the best possible go kart for your racing and events. You can easily pay a lot of money for the top of the line however, you can save money by getting a used racing go kart. You can easily do this by shopping around online in the second hand classified websites like Craigslist and USfreeads among others or you can find specific websites dedicated to racing go karts and parts and accessories shops.

When you want to get a second hand go kart you have to think about how often you will use it, where you will use it and what you need it for. Most people enjoy getting used go carts for family get-togethers. This can be a fun way of bringing a large family together to have a fun time. Vacations always consist of go carting when you are a kid and what better family activity to have fun with. You can set up go kart tracks in your location and race each other. For this you can find used go karts for sale that come together from another family that might have outgrown them, or you could find two separate ones. When you want to make a great family reunion weekend an extra special one, you should get at least 2 go karts.

This is another reason for getting used go karts. You do not have to fork out a large sum of money for something you might do once or twice a year. You can spend a little money on this item for your enjoyment and for your family to enjoy. Once they have outgrown go kart racing, you can place an ad and sell them to another young family. There are always parents looking for a kart for their kids especially around the holidays.

Getting used go karts for sale is easy and effective. You can get amazing deals when you look for used ones online and you can also get some bargain prices if you look in a specific go carting magazine or newspaper. You should make your decision based on how the go cart looks and how it performs.

The last thing you want is to get a used go kart and find that it is broken or does not work that well. You will only be able to check this out if you purchase your used go karts from a local seller who you can meet. If you purchase your used go karts online you will have to take a risk that they don’t work. If you really want to be certain you can always ask the seller to send you a video of someone driving the go cart. Another way to make sure that you get what you are paying for is to use an escrow system to make your payments. This will then keep the money until you have received the product and made sure it is working.

Cheap used go karts provide plenty of fun for the entire family and you can use them for racing, for fun, and for family get-togethers. You will also find that you can use these for a long time from when your kids are quite young until fairly well into their teen years, and even into adulthood.

Go karts or go cartsgo carts if you prefer are like anything else motorized in that they have an overwhelming appeal to young boys. Its all about going fast and the thrill of riding something that goes faster than you can walk or run without effort. Horsepower is something we as young boys naturally gravitate towards. Its a testosterone thing and no matter what age you feel the urge to want to go fast. Its a natural progression and these little motorized machines can satisfy that hunger when you are young. Whether its a dirt bike, pocket bike, 4 wheeler or a go kart, atvs are becoming increasingly popular year after year. Pocket bikes are on the rise as well as fast go karts growing in popularity and there are even competitions for money on certain circuits.

Go karting has been around for decades and every year more and more go karts can be seen on neighborhood streets or in yards alike. Children can’t get enough and every Christmas new kids go carts show up on the street reaking havoc on the rest of the neighborhood. But they are not just for street use many of them are off road go karts that have been setup for dirt trails and street as well. There are street go carts and off road go carts alike. Many of which are gas powered as well as some electric go carts. I have seen many of them on mountain ranges riding through trails like they were an all terrain vehicle and its impressive. Gas go carts are much more powerful than their electric counterparts. I have even seen pedal go carts for the much younger children who are looking at safety first.
When your a kid growing up <a
The first thing to consider when buying a go kart is what age group your dealing with, obviously a 4 or 5 year old doesn’t need a 40 mph go kart. The beginner age which is typically 4 years old starts with a 4 or 5 horsepower go kart which usually runs about 15 mph. That’s pretty good at that age and dangerous as the same time if not properly watched out for. The amateur age is usually 8-12 and with about a 6hp cart that does 20-25 mph which is not too shabby. Obviously the higher the age the faster you can go with these and as parents we need to make sure we are smart about what we choose for our children to get into.

Go karts are fun but also dangerous at the same time. Safety is the most important factor with anything motorized and these are no exception. They are setup from the factory with a 3 point harness or seat belt and padded roll cage so if you do flip it or wreck you drastically reduce your chances of being injured. Its just like a car and should be treated like one. Helmets are also a requirement at all times and can be accessorized to look like the cart itself if you so choose. There are half and full face helmets and as any parent would guess full face is definitely the way to go.

There are videos and manuals on go karting and they should be studied before any child takes a ride. Its the parents job to make sure they properly educate themselves and their children before letting them loose on anything that has speed. Your first plan of action is taking your child out to an empty lot or field and teaching them the basics of throttle control and braking before letting them go wild.

You can find cheap go carts at several local locations like pep boys and Walmart especially in the fall and winter months. There are used go carts all over the newspaper and internet. Brands such as Carter go carts and Manco go carts offer great dependability and safety. Your local Yamaha, Kawasaki or Honda dealers typically have go karts for sale as well but if that doesn’t suit you the internet is always a great place to find reviews on certain models and the best prices available.
