Most people associate go karts with kids, but that is no longer realistic. Off road go carts are quickly becoming the hot new thrill ride for adults too. These buggy style machines are the ultimate alternative to more expensive ATV’s, and they come packed with a lot of power and advanced features.

Unlike the three-wheel and four wheel ATV’s that are known for tipping when making fast sharp turns an off road go cart offers more safety because it is low to the ground. The steering is easier to handle because you can get a good grip on the steering wheel; while controlling speed and braking with your feet.

Adult off road go carts differ in design from a kids model, and you should be aware of the difference so you can make age appropriate choices when you ride or purchase one. At first glance you should be able to compare a kids cart to an adult go cart. For example, an adult cart will usually have much larger tires and rims plus it will probably have front and rear shocks for full suspension. Also, it may have reverse capabilities, and more importantly the engine will be a lot more powerful. Some of the 250cc go cart engines, which may appear small, can pump out speeds of up to 40 – 50mph. These are very fast off road go carts and nothing to sneeze at if you are new to the hobby. A kid’s go cart is usually pretty basic, it will have a standard frame, no shocks, and a less powerful engine.

What features do today’s off road go cart kits offer? They offer excellent features because they are built for comfort, power, and speed. Electric start engines, automatic CVT transmissions, hydraulic disc brake systems, and rack and pinion steering makes driving a double or single seated off road go kart an experience you will not forget. Safety features include seat belts, closed sides and tops, which also keep dust and debris out of your face. Mirrors, turn signals, head lights, and horns can be found on many models. Thick padded seats with headrest promise a comfortable ride while bouncing over even the roughest terrain.

As the popularity of off road fun grows there will be an increase in competition, companies will constantly add new features to their karts, and the best part for consumers is that the prices will become more affordable. You can purchase Off road go carts plans to build your own if you so desire.

Adults and children of all ages can get in on the fun of this fast growing sport because there is a wide variety of styles and models to choose from when it comes to off road go carts for sale. Whether you are out exploring wide open fields or racing your best buddy on rough terrain you will have an adrenaline pumping experience. It seems this hobby is getting bigger and bigger especially in the mountainous regions of the country.

Now you can find these anywhere in the country. Cheap off road go carts are probably what you have in mind and if that is the case you better check places like Craigslist and Ebay. They will have a huge selection of used off road go carts for you to decipher from. I have never been on Craigslist or an online classified website that did not have a great selection.

Electric go carts are gaining in popularity. There are several reasons for this. First and foremost they have zero-emissions. They are also low-noise level. Aside from this they offer years of great fun. Electric go karts require little maintenance and they can be operated outdoors or indoors.

Parents thinking about buying their child a go cart will always consider the safety factor. In choosing an electric go cart this does away with the danger of gasoline. Since the electric go cart is just that, it operates solely on battery power eliminating the need for your child to deal with gasoline. In addition to the safety factor your child will not be confronted with any poisonous fumes.

An electric go kart can be found for under $200. This is less than half the starting price for its counterpart. Down the road you will save considerable money in maintenance. The electric powered go carts do not face the repairs associated with gasoline engines, particularly in the area of breakdowns and oil leaks. Also, since there are few moving parts in the electric cart they seldom break down or require repairs.

You or your child will not waste time trying to start the cart. Electric go carts for kids have an ignition switch. Just like a car all you do is turn the key and the cart starts and is ready to drive.

When you are ready to buy a go kart you will want to consider the chassis. It needs to offer sufficient strength to hold the drive train, engine, and other components as well as the weight of the driver. One of the strongest chassis is steel tubing. Next is the plastic tubing which is more lightweight. It is also much easier to work with although it does not offer the strength or durability of the steel tubing.

You will also want to consider the steering assembly. It needs to be accurate as well as reactive. A steering mechanism where it is attached to the front axle offers front wheel drive. This is most commonly used on most kids electric go carts. You will also want to check to make certain it is equipped with a good set of tires . A good choice is the strong, lightweight, 10-inch pneumatics. A good choice to stop the cart is the disc brake system.

An electric powered go kart requires strong batteries that will hold a charge and offer a long life. The important issue to consider is the running time. If your choice of batteries will only power the cart for 30 minutes when it suddenly loses its’ juice opposed to selecting batteries that will allow a longer driving period this consideration is most important.

Some electric go cart
manufacturers build their karts for children as young as five years of age. This, of course, is expecting a lot from a five year old. No matter what age your child might be it is essential that you remember to purchase a helmet when you buy the go kart. There is also a lot of other gear you can consider to purchase. The better protection you offer your child the less pain they will suffer if there might be an unfortunate accident.

It is worth mentioning that these same companies offered electric racing go carts. There is great demand in go cart racing at all levels. While you do not have to have a racing cart to be fast it does help to find fast electric go carts if you want to compete.

Go carts are something that are extremely popular among young adults and children. These 4 wheeled buggies or all terrain vehicles can be driven on the street or off road on such terrain as dirt trails or mountainous hills. The go cart can be setup a number of ways it really depends on what your age bracket is or driving skill level and also what purpose you have for driving it. As a kid I owned a street go cart that was setup for street use only. It was a two seater cart with a Briggs and Stratton engine that would run about 20 mph. Now this was not fast enough for me as the other kids in the neighborhood that had them would run about 30 mph. So as most go karts have a governor on them mine did as well so I decided to rid my cart of the governor and allow it to open up which gave me another 15 mph. Not bad for being only 12 years old and terrorizing the neighborhood. I had street tires on mine which were slicks like you see on a Nascar style race car. My friends had knobby tires on their go carts which allowed them to go off road on the dirt trails we had behind out houses.

Go carting is a phenomenon that reaches all ages. It starts when you are young and can evolve into something greater than most realize. Go cart racing is a huge sport than many Nascar drivers started their brilliant careers in. Drivers like Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart started their distinguished professional careers racing go carts and naturally moved up the ranks from there. It is obvious it can be a lucrative sport if you decide to race professionally. Go karting is something that many kids and young adults all over the world take part in. There are go cart tracks all over the world and go cart races take place in just about every part of the world you can imagine. Italy controls the World Karting Championships which is governed by the FIA. This is a huge organization which also controls the Formula One Racing. There are other various organizations in the United States which also control Go kart racing.

The economy often dictates how well go carting will do given they can be expensive and cost much to maintain. Even if you are buying a go cart for recreational use you want something that is going to be reliable but also not break the bank. Cheap go carts for sale can be found in many different places and that is a huge advantage to the karts of the past. Before the internet there were only a couple of places to find used go carts and that consisted of basically the classified ads of the newspaper and Pep Boys go carts. Pep Boys has long been a distributor of them and other 2 and 4 wheeled vehicles.

If buying a go cheap go kart is not an option for you and you have some mechanical skills then you can always build your own go cart. They have go cart kits for sale that come with a go kart manual to help you put it together which will save you money and give you some time with your kids if you they choose to want to help you. Go cart parts are sold at various cycle shops and several online stores stock just about every part you need to make your own go cart yourself. Homemade go carts are a great way to have what you want and take pride in knowing you built it yourself.

Go carts can be made from wood or various metals. Typically they are made from a strong metal or steel that will have a roll cage for safety. The off road go karts definitely have safety first as they are bigger and much more unstable being that they are higher off the ground. This means a chance for flipping over but with the roll cage you should be fine as long as you are seat belted in. Wooden go carts are a different story and are less safe as a means of fun.

If you are looking for a new means of recreation for your son or daughter and you want it to be recreation for either indoors our outdoors then you should consider looking into purchasing an electric go cart. With no-emissions and very little noise electric go carts are the way to go and are just coming into their own in the area of indoor and outdoor recreation arenas. There are several advantages to buying your kids electric go carts over the traditional gas powered carts. For example electric go karts are lower in maintenance, you don’t have to worry about your children dealing with gasoline when you aren’t around, they are quieter, they have no emissions and the best part of all is they can be used indoors or outdoors.

Electric go carts for sale are highly recommended for boys and girls between the ages of five and fifteen years and remember they are much safer to both your children and the environment than the gas powered go karts. While using kids electric go carts your children will not be breathing in the gas fumes and carbon monoxide which are emitted from the gas powered go cart. The gas powered carts emit toxic fumes, are a lot louder than electric go carts, can leak fuel and oil and the the main item to remember is the cost of gasoline needed to power the gas go kart.

The electric go karts for sale today are designed and built with many more safety features, make less noise and are much easier to be operated by younger children. The ease of operation of the electric go cart makes is perfect to be used in residential areas. You no longer have to live in the country to be able to drive around in electric go karts. Beside not needing gasoline to run the electric go cart is easy to use, your child just needs to put in a fully charged battery, climb in and turn the key and they are off. When that battery runs down just swap it out with the fully charged spare battery and your son or daughter’s play time won’t be interrupted. With the ease of maintenance and operation of the electric go cart you won’t go wrong with buying one for your son or daughter for their next birthday or Christmas.

Research shows that the approximate cost of maintaining a gas go cart is about $150.00 per year, but you will save money and the environment by purchasing electric go carts for sale instead of the traditional old fashioned gas go cart. In today’s economy it is important to save both time and money where ever and when ever you can. The reasons for buying an electric go cart include better safety features, higher performance and lower maintenance requirements, they are quieter than their gas powered counterpart and can be safely used in residential areas by younger children. You won’t go wrong by purchasing a battery operated go cart.

Do you know someone interested in getting into petrol racing go carts? Petrol go kart racing is a great inexpensive way for those with the need for speed to compete. Most types of motor vehicle racing is very expensive and financially out of reach for most people. Children or adults can both get involved and participate in racing petrol go karts. The excitement of competition of racing while saving money is a dream come true for those interested in any type of racing arena. Approximate costs depend on many variables but could run into the thousands. There are several famous professional racers out there that got started in their racing careers by petrol racing go cart as a child.

Before getting involved in petrol go cart racing be sure to do your research and learn as much about this sport as you possibly can. Learn about how fast the petrol go carts can go, for example did you know that the motors of these go carts can have four stroke engines that can reach speeds as high as 50 miles per hour. Two stroke engines can run a lot faster than the four stroke engine, the two stroke engines can reach speeds as high as 100 miles per hour. The Petrol go cart has a single gear so you don’t have to worry about shifting gears while gaining speed. The fastest petrol racing go cart have two stroke engines and six speed manual transmission, the speed of these petrol go karts can reach as much as 160 miles per hour.

There are many petrol go carts manufacturers out there but you can build one of your own design and with your own two hands just by using parts laying around the garage and from the junkyard. Many a petrol go cart starts out with a chassis or a frame for support and a motor from a lawnmower. If you are unable to locate a small steering wheel you can make due with a bike handle. Don’t forget about wheels, it has to have some way of racing down the track. If you have a need for speed but a low budget keep in mind that you can still meet your need to race down the track with petrol go carts.

Make your own petrol racing go cart or buy one new or used. Remember that when researching and buying petrol go karts you will want to keep in mind the amount of speed you feel comfortable driving, the type of racing you want to do and how serious you want to be about this sport. Oh yeah one important thing is to stay within your petrol go cart budget. Once you have gone through the expense of getting your petrol go cart ready for the race you will still have the expense of getting your petrol go kart to the track as well as paying the racing fee. The next time you are watching the Indy 500 remember that at least one of those professional racers got their start with by racing petrol go carts.

Go karting is on the rise. More and more people are finding out about the fun of go karts everyday. If you are looking to find out more about the wonders of go karting then you have your work cut out for you, because there is a lot to learn about this great sport, and the best thing about go karts is that they can be enjoyed by the whole family.

Most of the time you will come across go carting at fun fairs and maybe now and again in the front parking lot of your local shopping mall. Most of the time it looks like fun, but you do not want to try it because you may feel that it is a thing that only kids do – well think again, because people from all ages are into go carts these days, which means that you could be too. They are not only gas powered but also an electric go cart for your pleasure if you prefer.

Go karting is one of the most played games in the US today. The best part of the game is that you can even build your own go karts. All you need to do is find out about the go kart kits. Everything you need to build your new go kart is in the go kart kit. If you cannot afford to buy a new one and do not think that you will be able to wrap you head around putting a cheap go kart together, you could always go for the used go kart – they are cheaper and the great thing is that you can find really good quality used go karts for sale.

This will serve as a guide to various ideas on where to pick up cheap go karts that you won’t regret some weeks or months later. You do have to be careful that you trust the person or company you’re dealing with when looking around. Obviously, this is advice that applies to most areas of cheap and/or used go karts.
First of all, check for big closeout sales. This may be the number one way to get new cheap go carts. While you may be able to get them cheaper by going with used ones, the big clearance sales are great places to find liquidation type bargains on new vehicles.

One should also become familiar with standard new prices in this field, so that you can know just how much of a deal (if any) a certain go kart is at a certain price. As you probably already know, go kart prices range widely from $300 on the lowest end all the way up to say, $10,000 for professional level ones. Factor this in accordingly to whatever you may be considering.

In the modern Internet age, no window shopping can really be considered complete without at least a cursory glance through the web. Here you will have access to more dealers than anywhere else with cheap go carts for sale. And here also, you will have an unprecedented access to individuals who are trying to sell their used and very cheap go karts. They like to list them for sale on sites like Craigslist and other more sport vehicle friendly (and specific) websites. Remember also that these people will almost always be up for some bargaining and price negotiation. You are really looking at the price that they have their fingers crossed that someone will pay without any haggling. But they are usually already ready to come down at least 5% to 10%. (Especially if you are nice and can pay on the terms which they want, usually cash.)

The other thing that is good about the Internet is that you can browse online for different models. You can look at pictures of them and look up specs like motor type and height and width. You can also, of course, meet other enthusiasts who can then provide worthwhile information and wisdom on where to find the best cheap go kart no matter where you are looking. These sort of connections are really invaluable and will go way further than most any research that one can do on his or her own.

So there you have it: the basics of how to find cheap go karts that are bound to give back to you and your family a lot more than they required in the first place. It is truly one of those great all-American sports (even if you are not in America). Happy riding. And happy shopping as well; I hope these tips can help you to find a great deal on a go kart which will provide many years of speedy and fulfilling racing. That’s what it’s really all about!

When you go to buy a go kart there are a couple things that you should know beforehand, especially if you have never gone through this process before. There are also some things to keep an eye out for just pertaining to the sales process, the price, and that sort of thing. But first we should tell the history of go karts very briefly.

A lot of people don’t know that there is an actual professional go kart racing circuit. It is overlooked by the Federation Internationale be l’Automobile (FIA) which also oversees and regulates the highly competitive (and prestigious) Formula One racing. (I’m sure you have heard of that before.) So go carts are not just for kids. Even at the amateur level there are many serious adults who play this sport and are very meticulous about all the details surrounding their rides.

A go kart is a small, suspensionless motorized vehicle. Usually they are used in some type of a racing environment, whether in preparation or in actual competitions. In fact, at the low end, some of them do not even have motors. This is the kind that you might see used in a “soapbox derby” where the vehicles are of a fairly primitive construction and are basically just let go of at the top of a hill and then the kids can only use a steering wheel and brakes to alter the path and speed as the hill accelerates them to the finish line.

Later on in life, many people still want to participate in the sport of go cart racing. For them, they will get into it at a higher end than the plain soap derbiers. They will in fact buy higher class motorized vehicles and will often put a lot of their own workmanship and tweaking into the designs to get them exactly the way they want them for the races in which they intend to compete.

In terms of price, you will see a very wide range with this product. At the low end, you can purchase a not so great go cart for as little as only $300. They may be good for a child or someone small or just starting out. It is good to practice on other people’s if possible before sinking too much money into the hobby. Although it sure is enjoyed by an awful lot of people.

Then at the higher end, prices can range all the way up to as much as $10,000 believe it or not. I know that sounds like a lot but it really isn’t when you consider that this is the price for basically professional level go karts. These are guys who make all or part of their living doing this, so their sponsors are often picking up the tab. And of course, much great workmanship and expensive motors, etc. has gone into the construction of them. Go kart parts are not cheap but you can find great deals if you want to get into this hobby. So for starters, I would just suggest to purchase your first go cart at the lower end of the pricing range unless you are very sure of what you want.

Pocket bikes are miniature versions of bikes, as the name suggests and stand barely one to two feet tall, small enough to carry under your arm. These mini moto pocket bikes typically have a 49cc engine, and can easily reach up to speeds of 40-50 km/hr, though bikes with 110cc engines are also pretty common these days. Pocket bikes, were built with only one purpose in mind, to get the maximum thrill out of speed and make it the most fun experience, anyone can ever have. The Honda CRF50 has in fact become a standard for these mini pocket bikes.

Though the pocket bike is considered illegal in many parts of the country, since they don’t have a VIN number, and are automatically restricted from being driven on main roads and national highways. A number of factors add up to it being considered illegal, including its small size, which can be missed by many motorists, the amount of noise it makes, even with its tiny muffler and the absence of many bike safety features, such as indicators, head lamps, rear view mirrors, horns etc. Consequently, you can’t get a pocket bike registered or insured. But on the plus side, you don’t need a license to drive it!

Some states however allow modifications of these, called super pocket bikes (in contrast to mini bikes), to operate on the roads. These modifications include headlights, turn signals, speedometer and horn, or even just a rear view mirror and brackets for a license plate, to qualify for a license. They are generally grouped under the category of unique or home-built vehicles.

Mini Pocket bikes consist of two types, gas powered or battery powered. The gas powered ones are preferred by speeding enthusiasts, because they take up hardly any fuel and promise excellent mileage, with the added speed of course. Electric or battery powered pocket bikes, however are safer for use by kids, since they don’t go above a top speed of 40km/hr and are even cheaper than gas powered pocket bikes. Just charge the battery overnight, and you’ll be good to go, the next day. These work the same as an electric go cart.

Safety is a crucial aspect of driving a pocket bike, because like any other motor vehicle, the chances of an accident at high speeds are unavoidable. Always take the necessary safety precautions like, helmets, gloves and the like, to safeguard your body from damage. Their small size makes the vehicle and the rider, prone to massive damage on collision and is a great danger to both life and limb. If you feel like the conditions for driving are less then amiable, then don’t drive. Its also very stupid to drive an unlicensed vehicle on the main roads, where the traffic fines can be as high as $2000.

Since the market for the pocket bike has grown sensationally in the past few years there are thousands of modifications and customization kits available on the market. Pocket bike parts are becoming more available to the consumer of such products. Racing tournaments are often held at the local beach or mud track, similar to dirt biking for pocket dirt bikes to come show their skills and share their passion with other speed enthusiasts.

Building a go cart sounds easy but in practice there are hundreds of things, which can go wrong and make you give up in frustration. You need to ask the basic question “How to build a go cart” because, go cart designing is essentially like automobile design, an engineering skill, and it helps to have a good layout prepared, before you get down to the nitty-gritty of it. Here’s a checklist on how to build a go cart, to get you started.

DESIGN- Keep a design fixed in your mind or translate it to paper. Decide all the possible variables, such as the number of people riding it, the terrain it will be driven on, engine size, clutch type, materials, drive system and suspension, if any before hand. All calculations of engine torque, weight distribution will be done based on these variables, so choose carefully.

ANALYSIS OF DESIGN- Once you design the go carts initial setup it is necessary to make certain calculations about the vehicle layout and chain size, to make sure your go cart moves. Analysis is the most crucial step, during the entire process and mistakes here can be costly. A few essential parameters to be calculated, here are:

    * Center of gravity – this determines the steering of the kart, as a good balanced design has 50% weight distributed on all wheels (the weight includes the driver’s weight as well)
* Engine Drive Line- calculate the engine size to weight ratios, including the chain size and tension, and determine the type of clutch you are going to use
* Strength of Frame- analyze the chassis and decide which material suits it best foe maximum flexibility and stress handling, with out being too heavy
* Component selection- Choose the type of chain, bearings and clutch which would ensure optimum performance, relative to size

GETTING GO CART PARTS / MATERIALS- If you’ve mapped out the complete car on your garage floor or on your computer, you need to pick up the materials that make up the kart which are essentially called go kart parts. Get all the materials together, by size beforehand to save a lot of time. Some parts, such as the engine can be taken of your lawnmower; otherwise there are good go carting stores, which ship materials at affordable rates. Go cart parts are all over the internet and at very comparable and affordable rates.

WELDING THE GO CART FRAME- Get all the pieces of the right sizes and shapes, if you want to learn how to build a go cart frame. Typically, you should, tack up the main frame and weld it, then the rear axle, followed by the engine, drive line and braking system. Then mount the seats; making sure you can remove them out easily later. Layouts the bottom skins and finally attach, the throttle and brake pedal systems.

TEST DRIVE THE GO CART- The test drive will help point out any errors you made during your go cart design, which are bound to be there, because you just don’t know how to build a go kart right, the first time. The brakes may not be adjusted, or worst case, not working, the clutch may smoke, the chain may be loose or the steering may be misaligned. All of these problems require minor readjustments. You should congratulate yourself if it moves.

GO CART PAINTING- Painting is a long drawn out procedure and its done best with a power sprayer. If coating the primer, taping and papering is not your cup of tea, then your local automotive shop will be happy to do it for you for a few bucks.

Building a go cart is a certain joy that comes from achieving something you thought was previously impossible. If you still find yourself asking, “How make a go cart?”, then look online for some good reference guides, which will provide you with detailed lists of tools to use and the calculations required. There are manuals for every kind of cart from metal to even how to build a wooden go cart.
